Using Technology to Support Rich and Meaningful Mathematical Discourse

Location: Point Lookout, Northport, Maine

Learn how technology, including specific iPad apps, can be used to support rich and meaningful mathematical discourse. This will include strategies that support students making and using visual models for open, rich tasks to foster mathematical communication. The session also includes examples of screencasts created by early elementary students with recording apps. Learn how students can use sentence starters and screen recording apps to present their thinking with models and practice mathematical communication and critique as well as how teachers can use these rich media artifacts to elicit and understand student thinking.
